Anton Bruckner University of Music, Drama, and Dance
Susanne Seyfert, Architekturbuero1 ZT GmbH
Thanks to its curved shape, the new Bruckneruni can be recognized from the outside as a place for music, dance and drama. The organically shaped building lies in the park like a sculpture and is surrounded by bright vertical slats that evoke associations with music and seem to connect it with the surrounding trees
merge. An outside staircase with seating steps can be used for open-air concerts. The internal structure is characterized by a light-flooded, curved access and air space that runs through the building like a river. The flowing, moving interior with the diverse visual relationships promotes communication and has an inspiring effect.
The 3-story organic structure with 2 basement floors offers almost 100 classrooms and lecture rooms, 10 classrooms, 4 concert and event halls, 45 offices, a public café/restaurant, an 800 m2 library and an underground car park with 131 parking spaces.
The building was built to passive house standards and meets the highest requirements both thermally and acoustically.
