MULTIFUNCTIONAL CENTER AND MULTISTORY HOUSING AT RADNICKA-VUKOVARSKA STREET IN ZAGREB

I have done architectural design for urban-architectural competition for a multi-purpose center and a residential-commercial building at the intersection of Radnička and Vukovarska street in Zagreb on two occasions in 2006, spring and autumn. The topic was to create a project for a complex that includes a private school center (classrooms, workshops, library, restaurant and other supporting facilities), a cinema hall, sports and recreational facilities (swimming pool complex with exercise area and sauna, sports field), and a separate building was a residential-commercial building.
The given number of floors in that area is eight (8) above-ground floors, the last of which is designed as a recessed floor. The total square footage of the built-up area is 73,000.00m2.
The biggest challenge was to solve the entrances and exits to the separate functional parts of the building, as well as to properly coordinate the relationship between them, while strictly respecting the given restrictions in terms of square footage and other urban parameters. The competition was prepared by "Stimar d.o.o." from Zagreb, and one of the jury members was university professor Hildegard Auf-Franić. Invited companies: Boševski-Fiolić, Nikola Filipović, Marijan Turkulin.
For the first time I used gradient tool (AutoCad 2006) for almost monochrome grafic to present the work. Emil Moguš did 3d vizualization.
